The Lovers’ Matchmaking Agency

In 2012, I and Aarni Korpela created a game/performance crossover out of a fake pop-up dating agency. We ran the piece three times in Helsinki and also in Oslo, Tromsø, and Copenhagen. The full piece runs over 5 days for a group of 40-50 participants, who all go on blind “dates” that are designed not for romance, but instead to highlight the way we bond with other people, and our own agency in creating those bonds. Public group events also add an element of participatory and local performance, such as the Big Fat Fake Mass Wedding, pictured above on top of the Opera House in Oslo.
